Horner extends his contract with Red Bull
The current sporting director of the Red Bull F1 team, Christian Horner, announced that he has extended his contract for several years, thus putting an end to rumors of his possible departure.
In difficulty since the beginning of the season, the Red Bull F1 team will at least have one reason for satisfaction this year, having extended the contract of its current sporting director, Christian Horner.
The Briton announced it himself to his compatriots at Sky Sport: “I recently signed an extension of my contract with Red Bull. I have excellent relations with Dietrich [Mateschitz] and my main goal is to bring the team back to the situation it was in 18 months ago.”
Recently, after his team’s defeat at home during the Austrian Grand Prix, rumors suggested a possible replacement for Horner. But he, confident in himself and his employers’ choice, did not feel worried: « That didn’t keep me up at night because I knew it was absolutely not true. It was total nonsense. The thing is not to put too much energy into these things, but in the world we live in, sometimes people from rival teams say things that get picked up, it ends up on the internet, and everything starts from there. »
No contract duration has been mentioned, but this announcement seems to confirm that Red Bull and Dietrich Mateschitz do not appear ready to give up on Formula 1 in the near future.
