Hungary: Fabio Leimer to make his debut with Manor
The new reserve driver for the Manor team, Fabio Leimer, will make his Grand Prix debut with Manor during the first free practice session in Hungary this morning. He will take Roberto Merhi's seat.
Appointed a few weeks ago as the test and reserve driver for the Manor team, Fabio Leimer will make his grand debut in a Grand Prix during the first free practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix, held this morning.
The Swiss driver, who will take the seat of regular driver Roberto Merhi, is happy with the opportunity the British team has offered him: « I am very happy with this opportunity and I hope I can make a positive contribution to the program planned this weekend. »
Leimer keeps in mind the difficult context in which Formula 1, and particularly his team, find themselves this weekend following the death of Jules Bianchi last week: « During this difficult weekend for the team, I am very grateful for their decision to proceed with the established plans regarding my participation in the session. »
John Booth, the team director, is eagerly anticipating Leimer’s debut: « We are very happy to welcome Fabio to our team for a few races and it will be interesting to have his technical feedback on the car, and to evaluate his performances. »
