Singapore: The Marina Bay Circuit Slightly Modified
The organizers of the Singapore Grand Prix have made some minor modifications to the Marina Bay circuit layout to encourage overtaking. These changes will be effective starting this year.
In order to offer spectators and viewers a more competitive race and an increased number of overtakes, the organizers of the Singapore Grand Prix, which will take place from September 18 to 20, 2015, have decided to slightly modify the Marina Bay track.
These modifications concern a section of the track from turn No. 11 to turn No. 13. The right turn No. 11 will be kept as is but will be realigned with Fullerton Road, offering a slightly slower cornering speed compared to 2014.
The left turn No. 12 will also be slightly modified so that drivers can now enter the left lane of Anderson Bridge before accelerating towards turn No. 13 at approximately 200 kilometers per hour, a speed similar to last year.
Finally, hairpin turn no. 13 will be widened by a meter to allow for more overtaking opportunities.
We also remember that the chicane that sat at turn no. 10 had been removed following the intervention of the drivers who deemed it too dangerous and uninteresting from a driving perspective.
