Official: Williams retains Massa and Bottas in 2016
The Williams team took advantage of the Italian Grand Prix to confirm their driver duo for next season. No surprise since both Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas are retained.
Williams will bet on continuity in 2016 with the driver duo formed by Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas. It is the third consecutive year that the two men will be side by side to help the British team find its way back to victory.
« I am very happy to confirm that Felipe and Valtteri will be with Williams for another year. Stability is key for a Formula 1 team […] This will put Williams in a fantastic position to be at the top of the grid in 2016. » Sir Frank Williams stated in a press release published on the team’s website.
For his part, Bottas says he is very happy to stay with Williams for a fourth year. He states: We are getting stronger as a team and I can’t wait to see what next season will bring us.
Felipe Massa will therefore participate in 2016 in his 14th season in Formula 1 and thanks Williams for the trust placed in him: « I am very happy to be part of the Williams family. They respect me a lot, and the results are there. Thanks to Frank, Claire, Mike, and Pat, and the whole team for the incredible support and trust they offer me. »
