Manor will not have a new racing car this year
Manor started the 2015 season with last year's chassis. The team was supposed to introduce a new car during the year, but this project has just been abandoned to focus all efforts on the 2016 season.
Late entry in the 2015 Formula 1 World Championship, the Manor team started the season with last year’s car. The team aimed to build an entirely new chassis, which was supposed to make its appearance during the year.
Graeme Lowdon, however, confided to Autosport in recent days that the team was abandoning the idea of building a new single-seater for the current season in order to focus entirely on 2016: « The plan we had at the beginning of the year was to make significant changes to the chassis and power unit during the 2015 season. But, as we were developing and recruiting more and more people, it became less and less feasible to follow this objective and more beneficial to focus development on the new chassis. »
A new chassis that seems on track according to Lowdon’s statements: « The development of this chassis is good, so the time has come to press the button that had been postponed so many times. Everyone is confident that the car that will arrive will be a major step forward for the team. »
The development of the 2015 car, however, has not been abandoned: « I am practically sure that we will have some new features in Singapore and/or Japan. » he specifies.
