The F1 sold within the year according to Ecclestone
Bernie Ecclestone recently confessed that Formula 1 is on the verge of being sold by the end of the year. Three serious contenders are in the running to buy numerous shares to become owners of the discipline.
During a phone interview given as part of the Camp Beckenbauer Global Summit in Austria, Bernie Ecclestone admitted that Formula 1 was on the verge of being sold.
Indeed, several shareholders already share the ownership of the discipline. Ecclestone holds 5.3% of the shares, CVC Capital Partners 35.5%, and the rest is shared among various foreign investment funds.
But according to the F1’s chief financial officer, this situation is about to change very quickly: « Our shareholders are in a position where they are going to lose a large portion, if not all, of their shares shortly. This is how things are set up for them. »
Especially since three investors seem very interested: “There has been a lot of interest, and I would say there are three interested parties at the moment, and I would be surprised if none of them buy very quickly,” confirms the 84-year-old Briton.
And when asked about the timeframe for the sale, Ecclestone replies: “This year“.
A definitive answer will therefore surely be provided by the end of the year regarding the new investors in the premier discipline of motorsport.
