United States GP: Only one point in the dry for Red Bull
After promising qualifiers and an equally promising start to the race, the Red Bulls of Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo bring home only one point, thanks to the Australian, who was in the lead of the Grand Prix for a time.
The disappointment was great in the Red Bull camp this Sunday evening. Indeed, after glimpsing victory at the beginning of the race thanks to an excellent start to the Grand Prix by Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo, troubles and mistakes piled up for both men.
Kvyat even ended his race in the wall after a driving error: « The first laps were great, it was very enjoyable and there was a lot of battling, but the track dried up. If it had been a wet race, I think we could have won today. It’s easy to say that, but once the track dried, we were an easy target for everyone, which was a bit frustrating. We couldn’t be as competitive on the dry as on the wet. I was driving a bit on my limit when I went off, I put the wheels on the artificial grass, tried to pick up a bit more speed but it didn’t work and I’m disappointed. »
Same sentiments from Daniel Ricciardo who led the Grand Prix for a few laps and could have considered a podium, without his collision with Nico Hülkenberg: The beginning was really fun between the two Mercedes and the two Red Bulls. It was a great four-way battle. Seeing the Mercedes not far from us was great. I was enjoying it. Once in the lead, we were quite fast for a few laps and I felt like in the past. Obviously, it didn’t last long and once we put on the slick tires, we lost the rhythm. We struggled quite a bit with braking and there were collisions with Hülkenberg and Sainz… It was a crazy race and I hope the fans enjoyed it because there was a lot of action.
