Pat Fry joins Manor F1 in turn

The Manor team continues to strengthen technically since the beginning of the year. After successfully negotiating the supply of power units from Mercedes, the British team is recruiting experienced engineers from all sides, mainly from Ferrari.

At the beginning of the month, it was Nikolas Tombazis, formerly with Scuderia, who was heading to Manor to become the head of the aerodynamic department.

Today, Manor announced the hiring of Pat Fry, who was affected by Ferrari’s restructuring at the end of 2014. A renowned engineer, Fry will initially serve as a consultant. Having joined late this year, he won’t have a significant influence on the development of the single-seater, but his involvement is expected to grow throughout the season.

Dave Ryan, the Race Director at Manor, is of course very happy to announce this news: « We are very fortunate to have Pat by our side to help us progress with our new technical package. The goal is to bring performance to the car starting at the Barcelona tests in February and then to translate all that during the first race in Melbourne. »

The two men know each other well since they have notably worked together at McLaren. Manor therefore has two valuable reinforcements to start the year and does not seem really affected by the departure of its two historical leaders, John Booth and Graeme Lowdon. The British team is, however, the only one that has not announced its driver duo.
