The future of the United States Grand Prix will be decided in February
It is in February that we will know if the United States Grand Prix will be present on the 2016 Formula 1 season calendar. Economic problems could sound the death knell for Austin's presence in the discipline.
Although appreciated by the public and the drivers themselves, the United States Grand Prix held at the modern Austin circuit is nevertheless threatened for the 2016 season.
The president of the Circuit of the Americas, Bobby Epstein, remains in anticipation after the State of Texas significantly reduced its financial aid in organizing the race: « We will have a definitive answer by the end of February. I cannot confirm anything before then. »
The typhoon that hit the circuit last year significantly reduced ticket sales. The economic impact is therefore evident on an event that is subsidized to the tune of about ten million dollars by the state of Texas.
“We are proud of what we have accomplished here. Time flies, we are in the year of our fifth anniversary, and no one wants to miss this!” further notes Epstein.
