Günther Steiner: Haas F1 Team will not finish “6th every weekend”

Romain Grosjean achieved the feat of bringing his new Haas single-seater into the Top 6 of the Australian Grand Prix, even though it was the American team’s first race in Formula 1.

But the team members are nevertheless keeping a cool head and expect to fall back into line as early as this weekend, as confirmed by sporting director Günther Steiner: « I think our plan is working perfectly, but we won’t finish 6th every weekend. So we need to be cautious about our expectations. We have proven that we can start with a new team and reach the mid-table. We weren’t last in Australia, which was one of our goals. And I don’t think we’ll be last this season. »

“We will not be arrogant about our early season success, and we will also have races where we will not be performant. If we continue the good work started in Melbourne, the results will come on their own,” Steiner confides.

The same mindset drives Romain Grosjean, who knows he will face a lot of work during the season to advance the team: “We need more driving, we need to cover more kilometers and deepen our understanding of the car. We have a long list of things we want to try and things to improve. There is a lot of work, but on the other hand, it means we can only improve the car.”
