Official: Magnussen, penalized, will start from the pit lane on Sunday
The Renault driver, Kevin Magnussen, was penalized after FP2 for not respecting the weigh-in. He will start the race from the pit lane.
Not really at ease on the Sakhir track, Renault has accumulated the laps.
“The two Renault drivers struggled to climb up from the bottom of the timing sheets during this first day of testing for the Bahrain Grand Prix.”
And to add a bit more difficulty to his situation, Kevin Magnussen did not comply with the red light requiring him to stop at the FIA garage for the mandatory weigh-in and was therefore penalized.
The governing body of Formula 1 has therefore sanctioned the Danish driver for this breach « The driver did not stop at the red light indicating the weighing during FP2. The car was not returned to the FIA garage and no work was undertaken. »
In accordance with article 29.1 of the sporting regulations, Kevin Magnussen will start from the pit lane for the race on Sunday. He had finished the FP1 and FP2 in 16th and 15th place, respectively.
