Verstappen won’t consider any opportunities other than Red Bull

The announcement made a big impact this week. The seat swap between Daniil Kvyat and Max Verstappen starting from the Spanish Grand Prix is a first attempted by Red Bull since its appearance in Formula 1.

The big winner of this game of musical chairs is, of course, the Dutchman, who will have the opportunity to demonstrate his true value and confirm all the good things that Red Bull and the paddock in general think of him. It is also a way for the Austrian team to retain the esteem of their driver, who is known to be courted by the biggest teams on the grid.

Verstappen was quick to confirm that he had little interest in these possible opportunities and that his future was with Red Bull: « To be honest, I’ve always been very happy with Red Bull. I’ve never seen any reason to change, and even less with this opportunity, I’m very happy here. » he expressed during a visit to the Milton Keynes factory.

The young driver, however, does not seem to fully realize what has just happened to him: “Of course I am very happy, and still a little bit shocked. I wasn’t expecting it and I am very glad to have this opportunity.”

The upcoming performances will therefore be very important for Verstappen, who already understands the magnitude of the task entrusted to him: “I will go to Spain without any particular expectations. I don’t want to add pressure on myself. I have never driven the RB12, I just hope to feel comfortable with it. I want to adapt to the car, understand it, and watch what my teammate is doing. The most important thing will be to score points.”
