Official: Renault to power Red Bull and Toro Rosso in 2017 and 2018
The announcement came this morning: French engine manufacturer Renault has decided to renew its partnership with Red Bull for the next two seasons. The brand will also supply the Toro Rosso team.
What better than a victory in Barcelona and a pole position in Monaco to announce the renewal of a partnership? This is precisely the situation in which Renault announced that it would supply its engines to Red Bull and Toro Rosso for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
Jérôme Stoll, the President of Renault Sport Racing, said he was very happy about this new stage in their collaboration: “We are very pleased to partner with two teams as strong as Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso. Having competitive partners demonstrates the confidence that these two teams have in Renault’s improved power unit and our organization as a whole.”
At Red Bull, a very satisfied Christian Horner announced the good news in Monaco: “We are very happy to continue our partnership, which has already proven to be a success many times. After the reconstruction that Renault has undertaken, real progress has been made, which made it logical to continue our collaboration with an engine branded Tag Heuer.”
The Renault power unit will also propel the Toro Rosso single-seaters for the next two seasons. After a transitional year with year-old Ferrari engines, the team based in Faenza will regain a well-deserved power.
