Lewis Hamilton sees a few weaknesses at Mercedes

In Monaco, Lewis Hamilton’s weekend was not a relaxing one. Although the Sunday afternoon victory erased all the frustrations, the reigning world champion nonetheless observes that his team makes many mistakes, pressured by increasingly close rivals.

The Briton would like Mercedes to react very quickly and he knows that they have the means to do so: « I am aware of making progress. But there are still problems. Many mistakes have been made and we really need to work even harder, as a team, because we are under more pressure than ever as other teams are getting closer. We are beginning to notice some small flaws here and there, so it is important to react because we are the best team and we just have a few areas to improve. »

The uncertainty surrounding Hamilton has not really been dispelled by his Monaco victory: « We still have a long way to go and these last five races have just proven that anything is possible, and in a very negative way for me. But this win can be a boost, especially for my mechanics who have been very nervous this year. When I get in the car, I have to be performing, and due to the problems we’ve had, we probably thought we weren’t performing, but they have been performing. Hopefully, this will give them the confidence to know that I am as strong as I’ve always been, and that I’m going to be even better. »
