Romain Grosjean scores more points for Haas F1 Team
Romain Grosjean is back in the points after a difficult few Grand Prix with Haas. The Frenchman drove a solid race in Austria to add another 6 points to his tally.
Starting from the second half of the grid, Romain Grosjean did not think he could climb back into the Top 10 so easily.
But a good strategy and a reliable single-seater allowed him to secure a 7th place, synonymous with points: « It was quite a good race. The first lap wasn’t great, I was pushed by another car and lost a few places. After that, we stayed on the track with the Super Soft tires, even though the degradation was significant. But I managed to maintain a good pace. »
The Frenchman was the first driver to return to the pit when the safety car came out following Vettel’s accident. A stroke of luck for the Haas driver: « The safety car entered the track at the moment we had planned our stop, which helped us a little bit. After that, I found myself behind Button, tried to overtake him but he was too difficult to follow. In the last laps, I learned that I had a 5-second penalty, so I worked on widening the gap with the car behind me. I was really at 100% during the last laps, which was quite nice but very stressful as well. »
Once again, his teammate Gutierrez finishes just outside the points in a frustrating 11th position: « From the start, it was a tough race. We finished 11th, close to the points. It’s not great but at least we did the maximum with what we had. »
