Nico Rosberg bets on a strong start to aim for victory
Nico Rosberg lacked speed in qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix. A mistake in the last corner meant that he was only able to finish on the front row - the least he could do.
The last corner of the Sepang circuit has tricked many drivers. Among them, the unfortunate Nico Rosberg, who had to resign himself to accepting a second place on the starting grid due to a small error in each of his fast laps: « Congratulations to Lewis for his pole. He did a better job today. I was close to him on my last lap but lost a couple of tenths in the last corner, which is really a shame. »
Nico Rosberg must get a better start than his teammate tomorrow and try to lead into the first corner to have any hope of victory: « I can be happy with the front row because, as we’ve already seen this year, there can be opportunities at the start, and qualifying is not that important, especially on a track where overtaking is possible. »
Hope keeps you alive, some will say, but it’s true that Rosberg has, in the past, already taken advantage of his teammate’s bad starts to steal the spotlight. Enough to remain confident for the race: « After all, I’m quite confident for tomorrow. And I hope we will give the Petronas guys and the Malaysian public a great race. »
