Ferrari confident of power unit progress in 2017

The fight for the development of the 2017 season is already well underway for the teams. Ferrari is no exception to the rule and even claims to be quite confident about the progress made and achievable for the upcoming year.

Thanks to the new regulations that have abolished the concept of development tokens, the Italian team feels freer to better tackle the upcoming season: « “As you know, Ferrari has never been in favor of tokens, so it’s now a good thing for us. Of course, next year we will still have only four power units available, and we must follow the rule. But not having tokens will allow us to be more flexible in our planning and changes during the season,” » says Luigi Fraboni, head of engine development at Scuderia.

With an engine that has already evolved this year and is expected to continue to do so next year, the situation on this side of the Ferrari factory seems quite encouraging: “On our side, as you know, we have already used tokens this year. This means that we have already had major developments during the season and not having this limit for next year is good, and currently, the development of the 2017 power unit is going very well,” concludes Fraboni.
