Red Bull on the move in Austin
The two Red Bull drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen, are optimistic in view of their performance on Friday. Dominating the Ferraris in FP2, they could even give the Mercedes a run for their money on Sunday in the long stints.
In their battle with Ferrari, nothing seems to stop the forward march of the Red Bull drivers. This Friday, in Austin, Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen have once again demonstrated their ability to challenge the Mercedes.
I’m happy with my day! exclaimed a smiling Ricciardo as he stepped out of his car after FP2. This morning, it was consistent, and our pace on the long runs is good. We made some changes between the two sessions and everything seems to be working well now. I hope it stays this way.
The main goal of Red Bull remains to stay ahead of Ferrari. But why not try to aim higher? In any case, Ricciardo thinks he can fight against the Mercedes on Sunday: « On our long runs, it seems we can compete with the Mercedes, or even be faster. So if we maintain this pace for Sunday, it will be a fun race. »
His teammate Max Verstappen is not lacking ambition either: « We made a few changes between FP1 and FP2 and we have a very good feeling with the car. At the end, we found a very good rhythm on the long stints on Soft tires, but we need to improve our performance on the shorter stints. I am confident that we can do that tomorrow. »
