The 2018 French Grand Prix at Paul Ricard is launched!
The first organizational meeting of the Groupement d'Intérêt Public du Grand Prix de France took place yesterday, in the presence of the main contractors for the race, which will take place on the Paul Ricard circuit in summer 2018.
Christian Estrosi, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, chaired the first Board of Directors of the Public Interest Group (GIP) responsible for the return of the French Grand Prix of Formula 1.
This first step in the construction of the race scheduled for summer 2018 was an opportunity for Christian Estrosi to highlight the attractiveness and influence that the Grand Prix will bring to the region and the entire country. The financial benefits have been estimated at nearly 65 million euros per year with the creation of 500 direct and sustainable jobs.
The GIP established will aim to promote the Grand Prix in France and abroad, manage ticketing, and provide the FIA with the infrastructure necessary for the smooth running of the race. As such, the Paul Ricard circuit will need to begin work to meet the usual standards of hosting Formula 1. Two million euros have already been allocated for these renovations in the coming year.
Finally, Christian Estrosi announced the next step in organizing the future French Grand Prix: « On April 8th, we will be able to reveal all the GIP partners and more details on the economic sector. We will also have made significant progress on the initial partnerships with major industrial or service groups. »
