Sauber presents its C36
The Sauber team has released a few photos on its website of its new 2017 car, the Ferrari-powered C36. It will be driven by Marcus Ericsson and Pascal Wehrlein.
Just like Williams at the end of last week, the Sauber team has unveiled photos of its new car on its website.
The C36, which will be equipped with the 2016 vintage hybrid Ferrari engine, stands out from its predecessor with its colors of blue, gold, and white, replacing the yellow of the previous sponsor Banco do Brazil, which was affiliated with Felipe Nasr. The car has a rather aggressive look, particularly regarding its nose, and is also distinguished, like the Williams, by its very tight side air intakes. But the most surprising feature remains the “shark fin” placed on the engine cover, reminiscent of the 1995 McLaren MP4/10.
This new single-seater will be entrusted to Marcus Ericsson, who thus begins his third season with the Swiss team, and to Pascal Wehrlein, a defector from Manor. However, the German driver will miss the first pre-season tests in Barcelona following his accident at the Race Of Champions. He will likely be replaced by Antonio Giovinazzi, loaned by Ferrari.
However, with a one-year-old power unit, the season /f1/news/21715-pascal-wehrlein-injured-to-miss-barcelona-tests.html is expected to be a transition year for Sauber, which might end up fighting alone at the back of the grid after the bankruptcy of its main rival in 2016, Manor.
