Force India unveils VJM10 with Esteban Ocon and Sergio Pérez
Force India launched this afternoon live from Silverstone its VJM10, which will compete in this year's Formula 1 World Championship in the hands of Sergio Pérez and Esteban Ocon.
It is within the well-known setting of the Silverstone circuit that Force India decided to unveil its new car, the VJM10.
The main change this year for the Indian team is the departure of Nico Hülkenberg to the Renault team, which presented its car yesterday. To replace him, Vijay Mallya and his men have decided to trust the young French hopeful, Esteban Ocon, a transfer from Manor, a team for which he participated in nine Grand Prix. The Mercedes protégé will therefore have a real opportunity to prove his talent within a team aiming for regular podium finishes.
On his side, Sergio Pérez still hopes to join a top team, like Ferrari for instance, and intends to prove his speed and consistency with this new car powered by the latest Mercedes hybrid engine.
Once again, the engineers at Force India have come up with a very surprising nose design, with deeper notches than usual, resulting in an elongated nose. For now, the Indian team is the only one to offer a “broken nose” compared to the competition.
The VJM10 features, like the Sauber C36 and Renault RS17, a shark fin on the engine cover which, similar to the elongated noses of the past two years, could well influence the design of many single-seaters.
The color code of grey, orange, green, and black does not change much from previous years, even though a lighter dominant tone is the trend for this new vintage.
