Pascal Wehrlein to drive Sauber in Bahrain
The Sauber team has confirmed that Pascal Wehrlein will be back in the driver's seat for this weekend's Grand Prix in Bahrain.
After standing in for two races, Antonio Giovinazzi had taken the seat of the Sauber, Pascal Wehrlein will resume his position at the next Grand Prix on the track in Sakhir as part of the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The German driver had been kept away from the tracks due to a back injury sustained during the winter after an accident that occurred during the Race Of Champions last January.
Recently, to silence persistent rumors about his driver’s health, Toto Wolff had revealed the nature of the German’s injury, before being contradicted by the Sauber Team Principal, Monisha Kaltenborn.
The return to the track for Wehrlein, starting this Friday, should close a painful chapter for the driver and allow him to begin his season. We will find out very quickly if the former Manor driver will be in full possession of his capabilities on the demanding Sakhir circuit for a Grand Prix that will now, traditionally, take place at night.
