F1 TV will not be available for the Melbourne Grand Prix
The Formula 1 streaming service, eagerly awaited by fans, has its launch delayed and will be released on an undisclosed future date.
The Formula 1 streaming service, whose availability was announced for this Thursday, is facing a delay and will not be available for the Australian Grand Prix. Although a page dedicated to tests was spotted by users, the system was clearly still in the testing phase, particularly with billing, as some users registered for this testing system received billing emails several times per hour.
« We will conduct a beta test and a stress test during the Melbourne weekend to make the system fully operational as quickly as possible. » announced the F1 spokesperson.
« This is a normal process when you develop a new product. It won’t be a public test, but only internal. We will have people deployed in various locations around the world to test the system and its numerous features. »
If the system developed with TATA is complex to implement, it is particularly due to the high demand for the system, which would be used by several million users simultaneously, who must, among other things, have access to 24 different video streams simultaneously. This is a first in sports in general, having a video stream available for each of the participants, especially in a sport where the number of actors is 20, not counting one global stream and three additional streams.
Concerning a future availability date, the answer is clear: « We will do it as soon as possible. We have no set deadline. »
