A documentary on the backstage of Formula 1 in preparation with Netflix
Netflix will produce a documentary on the backstage of Formula 1, which will be broadcast in several episodes on its multimedia platform at the beginning of 2019.
Lyberta Media continues to expand its scope and optimize the Formula 1 product since acquiring the commercial rights to the sport.
And to make up for the lack of visibility of Formula 1 during the winter, the Americans have decided to entrust Netflix with the realization of a documentary on the backstage of the discipline: “Formula 1 is a global sport that we are actively repositioning from a motor sport company to a media and entertainment brand. The agreement with Netflix will be used to tell the fascinating story of what happens behind the scenes during a Grand Prix. The series will unveil a compelling perspective on the sport that will delight fans and serve as a catalyst to attract new fans,” said Sean Bratches, the Commercial Director of the discipline.
The directors will have privileged access to the very closed world of Formula 1 and will be able to reveal unknown aspects to the general public.
This series, planned for 10 episodes, will be produced by James Gay Rees, who had already been behind the film Senna and should be available at the beginning of 2019. This approach is reminiscent of McLaren’s approach, which, with its documentary Grand Prix Drivers broadcast on Amazon Prime Video, had revealed the behind-the-scenes of the preparation of its 2017 season.
